Granite Misstates Facts,
Richard Loomis' 7/23/10 letter to the Californian "Entitled To Opinions" overlooks and misstates facts:
1. Granite’s "environmental experts" Lilburn Corporation, of San Bernardino, were suddenly and unexpectedly brought in at the last minute by Granite. Why? "Go read" as Loomis would say:
On Lilburn’s website at www.lilburncorp.com it shows background photos of huge ammonium nitrate blasting quarries, and lists dozens of satisfied mining companies as clients. Click on Lilburn’s Mission Statement: ... "getting to yes"... Lilburn knows how to ram quarries through bureaucracies for approval. That’s what they’re good at, and how they make the big bucks. Does it sound like they’re looking out for the 250,000 people of our still beautiful greater Temecula Valley? Do they know or care why over 100 Temecula doctors and over 400 Temecula businesses have signed petitions to stop the quarry? No. Lilburn works for the miners, not us.
2. Loomis hypes tours of quiet little sand pits such as Granite’s Indio sand quarry which isn’t analogous at all to the monster blasting quarry and smelly industrial asphalt and cement plant complex planned for Temecula. Even Granite doesn’t run those misleading "Come see for yourself" ads anymore. Loomis substitutes empty bombastic rhetoric such as "shame", "scream", "folks", "mockery", "scare", "spin", "speculate", "distorting" in place of actual, documented facts, which are readily available should he wish to learn the actual truth.
The most relevant truth about him, which he actually discloses, is that he lives in faraway Hemet. He’s not one of us.

Progressive Movement v. Marxism,
I’m a former Marxist revolutionary that was indoctrinated by extreme radicals in the late seventies in central California. For thirty years this has been my secret, but due to the nature of things in this Country today it cannot be hidden any longer. It is my adamant belief that there are hard core Progressives in our federal government that are systematically collapsing our economy with the intent of destroying Capitalism and life as we know it. This is not a conspiracy theory nor is it exaggerated in any way. I know this because I was trained in the same tactics and methodologies. Any Marxist trained “community organizer” can tell you the same thing, but not many of us will speak up. The term Marxist has been replaced with Progressive because true Marxists wanted a violent revolution to bring about abrupt change. Progressives require a long term strategy that will achieve the same ends with different means. To successfully redistribute wealth in our country and globally, the following strategies must be implemented.
Under the guise of “social justice” the government must create so many entitlements that they cannot possibly be financed. In the Progressive world this is commonly known as the “Cloward and Piven” method that was devised in the sixties at Columbia University. Once these entitlement programs are overloaded and collapse, they will blame it on greed and Capitalism. At this point the government will claim that they have the only solution and the private sector can no longer be allowed to engage in any type of free market system. They will pit the wealthy against the poor, the races against each other and States against States. As they claim to be champions of free speech and diversity, they will silence free speech opposition and use race as a wedge to keep people fighting amongst themselves. They are the definition of hypocrites. Just look at what happens when a conservative speaker tries to address the alumni at a liberal college.
“Ecological justice” is another scam for income redistribution. The whole carbon tax system is designed to collapse industrialized countries in order to benefit underdeveloped ones. The CCX, or Chicago Climate Exchange is financed in part by the Joyce Foundation that is in a sense a slush fund for leftist groups and people that desire to stay anonymous. The current president of our Country helped fund and create the CCX when he was on the board of the Joyce Foundation by routing 1.1 million dollars to it. Some of the principle shareholders are former Vice-President Al Gore and Goldman Sachs. Their own experts have openly admitted that it will do nothing for the environment but will make the right people extremely powerful and insanely wealthy. It is the mother of all deceptions.
There’s also the fact that everything controversial is being framed as a “civil rights” issue by Congress and the administration. In truth the issues of today have nothing to do with civil rights at all. Immigration is about the rule of law in our society and sovereignty. Health care, banking and housing are all issues being distorted into some kind of civil rights thing when they aren’t. It’s an emotional ploy to distract you from their true agenda, collapsing Capitalism and creating a global Socialist economy.
On the subject of church and State, the left proclaims to be the defenders of secularism. Recently, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi instructed churches to preach that immigration reform or amnesty is gospel. What?
Senator John Kerry is touting “faith based” support of his agenda. Why is it that they use religion to promote their Progressive agenda? Why isn’t the ACLU up in arms against this new found religion by the left? I can tell you why. It’s because it’s part of injecting emotional guilt trips onto the public for political gain. As a Marxist revolutionary, I personally infiltrated churches to promote “social justice” and other deceptive ideas in order to get “faith based support” for our agenda. It’s easy to corrupt people that are good at heart because they don’t understand the nature of deception and greed.
I’m not crazy, nor delusional. These things I know are true because I helped advance their agenda back in my brainwashed teens. I was an anti- government Anarchist hippie that jumped on the Communist bandwagon because it was cool at the time. It was something I’ve been ashamed of all my life and that’s why it was kept secret. Making things right is my life’s mission. As a Constitutional conservative and adamant Patriot, I have pledged to put all else on hold during these critical times. We must stand united to restore our Country to its founding principles and unveil the ugly truth about Progressives and their intent to circumvent the Constitution. Everything they have done must be reversed and it may take generations.
It’s time to get off the couch and get involved. There is no excuse for apathy or complacency. America is in dire distress and you must defend her in November and forever always. Thomas Cook, Former Murrieta resident

School Volunteers,
With all the coverage of the Gardner case one wonders why the press hasn’t figured out that the schools around here are deciding whether or not to run all volunteers who are alone with kids through the California Department of Education security process. Two board members favored having these safeguards in place to protect our children. Three did not. Seems to me that tracking volunteers who are alone with kids is important. It would send a message to pedofiles. We are watching the school board members to see who really cares about our children’s safety. Let’s see how the final vote goes. Sincerely, Robert Locke

Idiotic pro-quarry screed,
Don’t miss this classic “Friends of Liberty” pro Granite letter in the April 7 Californian, on pg. D3, authored by retired quarry truck driver Rick Kellogg, of Wildomar. He’s a constant pro Granite writer to the newspapers and politicians along with O.B. Johnson, builder-contractor, also a non-Temecula resident.
1. Kellogg, like a piece of granite, is not permeated by mere facts, such as that 110 Temecula doctors have publicly, on record, opposed and signed petitions to the Riverside Supervisors stating that the quarry and its daily ammonium nitrate blasting (for the next 75 years), diesels, asphalt toxic gases, and microscopic silica particles would be a catastrophe for the citizens of Temecula. Granite’s Karie Reuther mischaracterized all these doctors as “a silly chiropractor” who speaks at SOS meetings, along with “some professor” (Matt Rahn who runs SDSU’s world famous 4,500 acre Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve, adjoining the quarry site, since 1962.) Nor does he acknowledge that 475 local businesses are staunchly opposed to the quarry, and like the doctors, have duly recorded their opposition to the Riverside Supes.
2. Nothing against quarry truck drivers (I personally prefer Mexican gardeners if the truth be known--they don’t shatter windshields, have better manners, don’t stink up my air, and don’t crush cars with massive trucks), but we really aren’t trying to attract them here as our highest priority to continue Temecula’s astounding growth as one of California’s fastest growing high class successful towns. Abbott Labs, with its 2,500 highly paid professionals are what we want, or similar brainy companies. “We want to be silicon valley, not silica valley”.
3. The stupid truck driver sarcasm “whining”, “snow job”, “fabricated stories self-righteous saviors of mankind have inflicted on us”, et al, are fun though, aren’t they? Like lipstick on a pig maybe? 4. The most troubling fabrication of Kellogg’s letter is his allegation that quarry opponents engage in “senseless personal attacks” against Granite employees and supporters. Not true, but precisely what they do against Temecula citizens who oppose the obscene Granite invasion. Nick Biddle, Temecula

Folks heeee’s baaaack!,
This time, Greg Morrison of the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) in his Dr. Jeckyll reincarnation, sanctimoniously preaches water conservation in the Californian’s March 21 Community Forum. He solemnly intones about us silly little tree hugging Na’vi wasting his precious water. Now he’s suddenly, incongruously all about “protecting precious resources”. To intimidate us, he slings a whopper at us: “424,000 acre-feet of water” is still required in our reservoir, he says. Here’s a much bigger jaw dropper for Greg who in his March 5 submission to the Californian entitled “Stay focused on reality and fact” advocated support for Granite Construction’s “Liberty Quarry”.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report states that Greg’s beloved Liberty Quarry will use 472 gallons of water per operating MINUTE! I know he’s kinda stupid so I’ll just do the arithmetic on that huge number for him: 472 gallons a minute equals: • 28,320 gallons of water per HOUR. • In the 20 hour day that the quarry will operate, that’s 566,400 gallons per DAY. • In a 6 day work week, that’s 3,398,400 gallons per WEEK. • That’s 176,716,800 gallons per YEAR.
YIKES! That’s too big to comprehend, even for Greg, the EVMWD official who tells us that we not only need to cut our water use, but also to install the biggest ammonium nitrate blasting, water guzzling, quarry in America in our lovely town.
Morrison’s tirade follows another Community Forum by Paul Howarth, published on March 19, about the need for forensic media reporters to get to the bottom of all this chicanery, or “channelling contributions” by Granite to small time tinhorn political hacks and politicians, such as Greg Morrison. Remember Woodward and Bernstein uncovering Watergate in 1972? That’s what good reporters are supposed to do. Get busy guys. It’s time. Nick Biddle, Temecula

Parishioner Comments - St. Catherine of Alexandria
Father’s Cardoza and Wagner,
My husband and I attended Mass on Saturday, December 12, 2009 which happened to be the Feast Day of the Virgin de Guadalupe. I was there to celebrate the Mass, but shortly after your homely Father Cardoza I felt insulted, alienated and angry. I was appalled at your shout out of “Viva Mexico,” especially when you encouraged the congregation to respond in kind. This would have been appropriate if you were in Mexico, but this is still the United States of America and I found it very offensive. I felt like you slapped me in the face. You made me feel very unwelcome. Why didn’t you shout out; ‘Thank God for America where we are safe and healthy. God Bless America.’
We left because of your inconsiderate comments and attitude and now I’m struggling with feelings of resentment while trying to stay in relationship with God Our Father.
What bothers me is that I haven’t heard the Church leaders ever recognize and express appreciation for the generosity of America and Americans. Where would the church be if not for the generosity of hard working Americans? All I’ve ever heard is; ‘more money is needed.’ America and Americans are usually the first responders when there is a crisis in another part of the world and when the dust settles I have never heard the church leaders issue a statement of appreciation.
Appreciation is a kindness, not a reward. It is loving and kind to appreciate someone and aren’t you in the business of acting out of love and kindness as decreed by Our Lord? We all need kindness and love regardless of our status in life. I’m not saying that America is looking for a reward, just some kindness and appreciation.
Something that also bothers me is that as long as I have attended Mass here I have never heard “GOD BLESS AMERICA” mentioned, especially on American Holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day, etc. No patriotic songs are ever sung at any of the services here. Our Nation was deliberately founded with God in mind and our songs are reflective of this. So why not sing them, what is the problem? What’s wrong thanking and honoring God Our Father for His Blessings on our Nation and asking for His continued guidance? Our Nation needs constant prayer, so why aren’t we praying for her at every Mass as a congregation and recognizing that it is because of God’s guidance that we have what we have. If not for America and God’s Blessings where would Mexicans or other immigrants go to get a better life?
You seem to cater to every other culture except Americans. Let me remind you again that THIS IS STILL AMERICA. People who come here should be adapting and assimilating to our American Culture, not the other way around. After all, isn’t that why they are here? Let me ask you this; when the church goes to other countries, do you expect that country to cater to American culture? I don’t think so. Then why do you do it here?
This is my Country and I love and respect her and I’m tired of seeing her treated like a slave to the world.
Now you probably think that I’m a racist for talking this way so let me say that I have developed prejudices because of attitudes like you Father Cardoza and the way illegal aliens are given preferential treatment over American Citizens who pay taxes to support this government and contribute to this church. I also happen to be of Latin decent, but I am an American first, not a Latin-American, just American. Besides people of color can be racists and I have experienced it firsthand from Mexicans and now from all of you at this church.
God help us all because if you continue to have this attitude you will be accessory to destroying this wonderful Country that was founded at God’s hands. Sincerely, Marcella Wintz
A letter was received as sent via the US Postal Service in response to this Community Voice. In defense of the church choir, the letter wanted our readers to know that this parishioner may have left early when an American patriotic song has been sung. "America the Beautiful" was cited as one that has been sung at the end of the 10 am service on an American holiday.

Animal Cruelty Cases
It is really a doggone shame when repeatedly animal abusers are brought before the court system by animal control and the case is pled out as "disturbing the peace". In one recent Temecula case, Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) filed felony charges for animal cruelty and neglect against a Temecula man when 318 animals (of which 214 were dead) were found on his property. The animals had resorted to cannibalism. The case was pled out to "disturbing the peace". In another case a man stabbed his neighbor’s two dogs. He was arrested and his case was also pled out as "disturbing the peace". Unfortunately this is not unusual in animal abuse cases. It is heartbreaking for both the animals and for those humane/animal control officers that serve to protect the animals. It is time for our judicial system to take animal cruelty seriously and make those that abuse and neglect animals accountable for their crime. Animal cruelty is not a disturbance of the peace. It is a crime against helpless animals and abuser must start being sentenced accordingly. Willa Bagwell, AFV
Kudos to the Staff at Total Care Family Medical Center
I recently decided to change doctors and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of care and service that I received at the office of Dr. Powell’s Total Care Family Medical Center. This facility has urgent care as you will see in their back page ad but they also have another side to their facility for family medicine by appointment. The service I received was so much improved over my past experiences at another local doctor’s office that I wanted to be sure everyone who is looking for quality care at an affordable cost will consider my experience and feel confident that there is a local office that still puts the patient first.
Let me begin by sharing what first prompted me to start looking for a new doctor. As a smoker for over 50 years and after trying to quit using a variety of products on the market including the nicotine patch and nicotine gum without success, my former doctor recommended Chantix, a rather expensive prescription medication with less than a 50% success rate. The doctor and physician’s assistant assured me this was a safe drug that had no side effects. I was on my third prescription refill when while watching television a commercial for a law firm warned of the side effects of Chantix that included death by suicide. I never would have connected the side effects I was experiencing to Chantix had it not been for this commercial. I received no call, no post card, nothing from my doctor. On my next visit, I told my doctor that the least they could have done when they found out they had misinformed their patients was to make a phone call to see if their patients were all right. My suggestion was brushed aside. I immediately stopped taking the drug and through an ad in The Bugle I found Sandra Bright, a Clinical Hypnotherapist who specializes in helping people stop smoking - with a 95% success rate. And it worked! I did need a second hypnosis session but it was without any additional cost.
The second problem I had at my local doctor’s office was trying to get my thyroid prescriptions filled in a timely manner. My pharmacy rarely had the fax when I arrived to pick up my refills. Plus this prescription requires a blood test every six months to check to see if the dosage level needs to be increased. I always got a call from the doctor’s office to come in after they got the results which was at an additional office visit charge of $100 before they would renew my prescription. Imagine my surprise, when Dr. Powell’s Total Care Family Medical Center mailed me my lab results. Not only did they save me the expense of a second office visit, they mailed me a copy of the results along with details about the normal ranges expected for each test so I would have a record to keep at home and to track over time myself.
Lastly, I must say that the staff at Dr. Powell’s office works for you. When you arrive for your appointment, they actually sit with you, ask questions about your current medical history and enter the information into a computer as you respond. At the other doctor’s office you couldn’t get past the receptionist without filling out a form telling them what you are there for. If you are looking for improved service from a medical provider I recommend that you give Total Care Family Medical Center a try.
Also, if your New Year’s resolution is to finally quit smoking, call the Bugle office and ask for Sandra Bright’s phone number. I was a skeptic about hypnotherapy too and the doctor who prescribed Chantix said I was the last person they would have expected hypnosis to work for. I have now been smoke free for over a year and truly without any side effects. Bill Knight, Murrieta

Breakfast Club of Menifee, 2 Rebuttals
I read the [Oct 2009] review of the Breakfast Club with great interest and a bit of misgiving. We had been waiting for the opening of the restaurant and when it did we were one of the first customers. We signed up for the Club card, which is a good deal considering it provided us with gourmet coffee for a year free but for the $25.00 yearly fee. Breakfast is one of our main meals, a time to enjoy a good cup of coffee, read the paper and or meet our friends. We visit the The Breakfast Club about three times a week and we enjoy the ambiance, the friendly service and, contrary to the review. we like the food.
In fairness to Mr. Anderson, we do not order omelets nor use the outdoor patio. We meet three other couples every Friday and some did order the omelet and one time complained it was too well done. Stu, the friendly owner, easily remedied this. We tried the Hollandaise sauce and found it to be tasty. A few times we had lunch and ordered the steak: it was cookedperfectly, tender and good tasting. Another plus is that as soon as you are seated the server brings a basket of biscuitsaccompanied by a generous amount of butter, strawberry jam and jelly. The eggs served are flavorful and the bacon and sausage seem to be of a good quality. Our service has always been friendly and quick, with perhaps one exception when a large group arrived at the same time.
We realize that every restaurant needs time to iron out the kinks and I agree this should have been done before Labor Day. We found Tracy and Stu, the owners, always anxious to please. They have invested their money to give Menifee an alternative place to enjoy a good meal and we believe they succeeded. I hope Mr. Anderson will give them another chance.
We often order the plate they call “The One”, it consists of one egg, one sausage, one strip of bacon, one generous pancake as well as one slice of toast and is priced at $3.95. This is a good deal!
Mr. Anderson used a bit of a dramatic flair in his review, such as; “Begging for Coffee”, “Tapping on the window like orphans panhandling for food”: this is his style and we admired it, but respectfully disagree. By way of a disclaimer, I want you to know that I am just one of the Club’s regular customers, I have nointerest in the restaurant financially orotherwise. I understand they have sold over 150 Club memberships so evidently others have a favorable impression as well. In addition I have spoken to some other customers who are like us “regulars” and without exception they have given The Breakfast Club of Menifee a thumbs up. I can further add that I am a retired General Manager of Spenger’s Fish Grotto in Berkeley, California, an establishment that served three thousand (3000) meals daily, had 275 employees and had a yearly gross of seventeen million dollars. Therefore I consider myself well qualified to judge another restaurant. Furthermore I can add that their restroom facilities are equipped with automated soap and towel dispensers and I have found them to be super clean.

Dear Folks;
The October 2009 edition of the Bugle’s Community Voice section presented a restaurant review that was neither fair or balanced. It was in the neighborhood of: Unfair & Biased. The neophyte reviewer and his wife, obviously have little or no experience in dining out. Aside from the obvious fact that a reviewer worth his salt (no pun intended), visits the establishment at least twice, it is incumbent upon him, or her, to behave in a civil manner. If you specifically request an item to be served on the side and it is plopped atop your meal, you politely send it back. You do not just scrap (reviewer’s word, not mine) it off. They further demonstrated theirchurlish behavior by “....tapping on the [patio] windows.” How quaint. The owner should have had them escorted out for exhibiting childish, disorderly conduct. In order to dramatically punctuate their pointless point, the drama King & Queen insinuated the cashier, horrified by the poor couples’ experience, avoided eye contact. Balderdash!!!
Perhaps the merry couple should dine at customer-friendly IHOP on Newport & Murrieta. They serve coffee in decanters so infants need not stamp their feet or tap on windows.
All the best, Ed McDermott
You Don't Tug on Superman's Cape
You Don’t Spit Into The Wind. You don’t mess around with Big Jim Walker in his drop top Cadillac... And you don’t tell whoppers to the citizens of Temecula!
The Californian recently ran a feature article by Aaron Claverie, “Officials Return”, with a stunning, pernicious and absurd plug for Granite Construction Company building a quarry in Temecula. Claverie gushed enthusiastically over a treated water plant joint project in Minnesota between a mining company, two towns, and the state. The joint project? A surface water treatment plant in Burnsville, MN, which, like Temecula, has a population between 50,000 and 150,000 residents. The plant will produce treated water from water discharged by alimestone quarry.
Claverie’s whopper to the citizens of Temecula? “If Granite Construction issuccessful with its plan to dig a quarry near Temecula’s southwestern border, a similar arrangement could help boost the water supply for Southwest Riverside County”.
Oh, please, Aaron! As the RCWD water nazis check our lawns for overwatering, raise our monthly bills, cut off our water supply to save the 2 inch Delta smelt fish living in our viaducts, Granite, the biggest-ever-in-history proposed drain on the local water supply at the rate of 9,000 Gallons a Minute, is going to boost the water supply?

Weird Teacher, Odd Republican
In the Californian, pg.D7 [Nov 29, 2009], “Quarry no topic for school board, PTA” Adele Harrison, an angry Granite ally and retired teacher, scolds that we must all just shut up and welcome Granite Construction Co. here, so that our children can learn history, the Constitution, hard work, free enterprise, and get jobs.
I, as a charter member of the RNC, and Sustaining Contributor since 1972, agree heartily with her about our children’s curriculum, except for her amazing, fierce, moronic advocacy of Liberty Quarry’s invasion to our lovely community. What planet is she from? She needs to catch up on her reading on the topic, as most Temecula residents with even modest IQs have already done.
My first experience with Ms. Harrison was in February, when I telephoned her to accept the Murrieta-Temecula California Republican Assembly dinner at Pat & Oscars Restaurant honoring Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth, a strong quarry advocate. When she heard I was quarry-opposed, she shouted me down, and threatened not to reserve a seat for me, a lifelong Republican. Later, at the dinner, I tried to ask Sen. Hollingsworth why he thought it was helpful to Temecula for him to sell us down the river for Granite. He quickly fled out the side door without answering me, and a large goon then threw me out of the meeting.
In the parking lot outside he screamed, two inches from my face, that he was calling the cops. I shouted even louder that he was a disgrace and should be ashamed of himself for betraying Temecula. We both then drove home. Clearly, neither he nor Ms. Harrison are the “sharpest knives in the drawer” as they say.
How embarrassing to be in the same party as these local rogue Republicans. One can only surmise their real reasons that they are so irrational, and impervious to all the factual, scientific, business, and medical reasons not to allow Granite Construction to destroy the greater Temecula community and our environment. Final irony for Ms. Harrison and her door bouncer: The first prominent American environmentalist was President Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican.

Breakfast Club of Menifee, Reviewed
With limited dining choices here in Menifee, my wife and I were very excited to find out Menifee was getting a new restaurant. The Breakfast Club of Menifee opened this July helping to fill the restaurant void in the area. Since most new businesses need some time to work out the bugs, we waited until this Labor Day to give them a try. We went in excited and with tummies rumbling. And unfortunately we left disappointed and very hungry.
Please note that we really wanted to enjoy our experience at The Breakfast Club, but every time we tried, their service and food just got in the way. “Maybe it’s partly our fault” I wondered as we sat waiting for anyone to bring us more coffee. When you opt to sit on the patio you hope to be treated with the same amount of attention as the customers on the inside. But what usually happens more often than not, you become designated second class citizens, and unfortunately that is what happened to us. We became the forgotten. Begging for coffee, tapping on the window like orphans panhandling for food, and having to stand up and flag down anyone that would help us.
>When the waitress arrived she was very pleasant, well mannered and ready to take our orders. But this being our first experience at the Breakfast Club we had a few questions. Unfortunately the waitress had no answers. She didn’t even know some of the basic ingredients of common items. But we were not going to let that sully our experience so we ordered up two omelets with Breakfast Club potatoes, with one special request, that they put the hollandaise sauce on the side. For those not familiar, hollandaise is a French sauce most commonly associated with Eggs Benedict. I’ve had good hollandaise and bad hollandaise, and when it’s bad it’s really bad, so not wanting my omelet anointed with the stuff before I sampled it, we went out of our way to ask that it be on the side. Twenty minutes, and no coffee refills later, what was set in front of us? You guessed it. Two omelets covered in hollandaise sauce.
After sampling the sauce, we both concluded that it was of a kind that did not agree with either of us. Still wanting to enjoy our Breakfast Club experience we decided to just scrap it off. After wiping the forks clean we dived into our omelets, very hungry, and still excited. It took me at least two bites to realize that the chef at the Breakfast Club depends quite a lot on the hollandaise sauce for not only flavor but apparently moistness. These flavorless omelets were as dry as the Sahara desert, and maybe if I could have gotten some coffee I could have managed more than three bites of the dry, barren, overcooked, egg-slab. My wife faired a little better, managing almost five bites before she tossed her fork down and cried, “Uncle.”
So we sat there for near twenty-five minutes, waiting for our waitress to come by and ask how the food was. She never did. In fact we never saw her again, and no one asked how we enjoyed our food. Even the other waitress who picked up our plates that had just as much food on them as when they were brought out, didn’t ask us how our food was. Even the owner, Stu, who came out to apologize for the service, or lack of service, didn’t ask why we had just sent back two full plates of his food. He just apologized for the service (which we did not complain about), gave us the bill for the food we did not eat, and left.
The person who ran my credit card, and only made eye contact with me to make sure that my face matched the one on my drivers license, didn’t ask how the food was, if fact she barley spoke at all. I can only conclude that the reason they don’t ask that question, is that the answer they get is not very positive. I hope that isn’t the case. I hope that ourexperience was uncommon for The Breakfast Club of Menifee because even after all that we went through my wife and I still want to like the place. She is willing to give it another shot. I’m more hesitant. I will say that they serve a fantastic fresh squeezed orange juice and a really decent cup of Joe – if you can get someone to bring it to you. But neither beverage is worth a return trip. Where’s the planning?
Isn't it interesting that the mainstream newspapers continue to report that the City of Murrieta will be the biggest explosion in growth once the economic pace picks up? Where are they getting their information...from the developers?? I think it is brutal how the only planning for this community are strip stores. Everyone must have their hand in the till. When I visit other growing communities, such as Santa Clarita and Valencia and see what beautiful planning has gone into their growth...with real neighborhoods, walking paths for miles built over streets and freeways, walk to restaurants, walk to shopping, walk to movies, etc. Real planning and thought has been placed into these fast growing communities. What has happened to Murrieta? Murrieta’s planning (or lack of planning) makes me sick. Concerned Murrieta Homeowner
Liberty Quarry’s quest for cheap labor
Do you remember all those good, high paying jobs that we’ve heard Granite Construction talk about for their proposed Liberty Quarry? Well, Teamsters Local 533 is now in contract negotiations with Granite Construction. This Teamster Local represents members throughout northern Nevada and eastern California, whose drivers bring concrete and asphalt to construction sites. The Teamsters Union has offered to take a wage freeze. And Granite Construction? Granite wants their Teamster drivers to take an $8.00 an hour pay cut – yes, $8.00 an hour pay cut, on private sector work, from $21 down to $13 an hour. That would be more than a 38% pay cut! Can you imagine having to go through all the training to drive one of those big trucks, obtaining the proper drivers license, paying union dues, and Granite wants you to work for only $13 an hour? A Teamster spokesperson has said that “We will not let Granite become a modern-day robber baron”. Further, the spokesperson said: “Granite’s conduct has shown they don’t want resolution, they want confrontation.” So while those Liberty Quarry jobs might be considered high paying jobs on Day One, the question is, how long would that last? Bono-Mack and Energy Tax
The House, with Bono -Mack support, narrowly passed 219-212 a National Energy Tax that’s wrong. BONO-MACK - NO MORE SUPPORT from our household. Through various venues, I have supported Republican Bono-Mack in the House for a long time, that’s changing. Coincidently, a few days back we received notification from Edison that our monthly bill is going up approx. $60 or $720 per year. I also understand the Energy Tax that Bono-Mack voted for will raise electricity rates for all of us upwards of 90% by 2035. When a similar “cap and trade” system was implemented in the European Union, it didn’t actually reduce carbon emissions, but allowed major corporations to make big money by fixing the rules in their favor while passing on the costs to consumers and small businesses as indirect taxes. Thanks to Bono-Mack’s poor judgment and vote, our electricity bill dramatically jumped and we can expect more hikes in the future. There’s no way she can deny her vote has us paying more money for energy. Gary Gengler, Murrieta
Don’t Be Fooled By Fox News
When I realized around September, 2008 that msm [mainstream media] fed us only pablum, I stopped watching msm and turned to Foxnews for the majority of news information. I soon realized that while they were considerably better than msm, they too only gave us a censored version of the news. In today’s complex world, it is vital we keep informed. Most of us only have the television news to inform us. Now for those of us who are connected to the internet, we have another source–Thank God. We especially have to stay informed about government in action. Most of the time politicians don’t give a rat’s tail for the public’s best interest–until they need our vote. Nothing can be more important for modern life in America than the information we get about what government does and doesn’t do. With accurate and honest information, the public can make wise voting decisions. With only lies, fiction, and suppresion of facts, the public is set up to make terrible choices–such as allegedly voting Obama president. I say aledgedly voting for Obama because, in spite of the lie that claims Obama won by a landslide–he did not win by a landslide. There are questions of all the fraudulant voter registrations and actual number of dead people who voted for Obama. An issue that has never been resolved. Then there were thousands of votes from the overseas mililtary that were never counted. Finally–there are millions of people who voted for Obama believing that he was legally eligible to be president. [Obama’s status as a natural born citizen based on a Certificate of Live Birth is in dispute as it appears to be a fraud when when compared to legal COLBs and Birth Certificates]. To this very moment–we still don’t know who Obama is. This was failure of the media to report responsibly. I watch Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Greta Van Sustern and other Fox news hosts almost daily. They are the best we’ve got at this time on television. However, I don’t doubt for a single second their news is as censored and suppresed as msm. I see them as entertainers and not ethical journalists. I listen to two specific items: 1. what they say, and 2. WHAT THEY DON’T SAY. Believe it or not, I have learned more about them by what they don’t say than by what they say–which is nothing more than controlled entertainment. The hosts on Fox news are charming and rather convincing performers. They want you to think they are “Looking out for you.” They are not. They are only looking out for themselves and their very highly paid performances. Understand they are no better than the rest of the politicians who put on a good show. Therese Daniels, Menifee
Publishers’ Note: I have to agree with Therese. Fox was my favorite news network until about four years ago. I cannot trust anything political that is reported on that channel anymore. They repeatedly allow conservative politicians to misrepresent the facts. For example, contrary to Mike Pence’s statement on Fox recently that no Republicans voted for more taxes is the example of Mary Bono Mack, one of 8 Republicans that did vote for the energy tax. And Reagan and his economic plan did not have the support and cooperation of then Federal Reserve Chairman Volcker as was allowed to be stated on Fox recently while they tried to glorify Reaganomics as compared to Obamanomics. Read “Secrets of the Temple” by William Greider - an excellent book on our economic history and the influence of the Federal Reserve, aka the Temple. Fox screams about illegal aliens but never tells you that it is local businesses and their Chamber of Commerce dues that pays for the lobbyists in Washington D.C to fight for more immigrant labor here and more amnesty bills. Nor do they tell you how it was Ronald Reagan who gave amnesty to millions of undocumented laborers in the 80s after he looked the other way as Governor of California while those immigrants took construction jobs away from Californians in the 70s. After amnesty, anarchy allowed abuse of our employment laws while more contractors and restaurant owners attracted and hired additional undocumented laborers at American citizen’s expense. There is more full-disclosure published in citizen based news media than on any “bought and paid for” mainstream press or TV network.

Suffering on Father’s Day
I just wanted to share how many non-custodial fathers suffer on Father’s Day. Even though we love our children, faithfully pay child support (in my case for nine years and counting), and have fought through the courts and spent tens of thousands of dollars, the custodial parent chooses to alienate the children from the loving father. They cut off all communication and brainwash the children against their father. In my case, she illegally moved them to California, and now resides in Murrieta. She has told the schools that I am a threat to the children and has furnished them with a false Temporary Restraining Order in an effort to discolor my reputation with the school. Even after furnishing the school with the TRO denial order from the court, I am still treated as if I am some sort of threat. Father’s Day is not a celebration for fathers like me. It is a reminder to me, my wife, and my extended family of the pain that has been dealt by Parental Alienation. Anyone that denies that Parental Alienation exists can contact me. You will believe after hearing my experience. These mothers are ruining our children and teaching our children to hate.We need to change the therapists and the courts. David Wilson - 801-577-6062

America became the greatest country in the world and hope and inspiration to the rest of the world. People from all over the world dreamed, worked and struggled to come to America. So many different people came America became known as “The Melting Pot of the World.” The statement written at the base of the Statue of Liberty, “Give me your poor. . .” always brought tears of pride to my heart. The dream of America was the dream to rise or fall according to one’s own ability without government interference or piracy. The dream was to succeed! Many nights I have fallen asleep trying to identify the main factors that made America great from the many, many factors in the total history. Just what is the definition of freedom? What did it mean to the immigrants who so desperately struggled to get here? Before I fell asleep, they always boiled down to these—the Constitution of the United States, The Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. The fountain heads that inspired the wisdom of our forefathers who wrote these amazing documents sprung from their own deep rooted experiences of the mistakes of governments from the countries from which they or their families came. They all knew what too much government interference, suppression and oppression meant. From the agony of their experience, they wrote the Constitution of the United States. With the completion of the Constitution, they gave us a Republic under one God in a nation for which we can stand. The Greatest Story in Modern History inAmericaHappening Now Is—Suppressed
Americabecame the greatest country in the world and hope and inspiration to the rest of the world. People from all over the world dreamed, worked and struggled to come toAmerica. So many different people cameAmericabecame known as “The Melting Pot of the World.” The statement written at the base of the Statue of Liberty, “Give me your poor. . .” always brought tears of pride to my heart. Americawas the only country in the world the people could escape the suppression of their own fascist, Tyrannical, dictatorship governments. The dream ofAmericawas the dream to rise or fall according to one’s own ability without government interference or piracy. The dream was to succeed!
Many nights I have fallen asleep trying to identify the main factors that madeAmericagreat from the many, many factors in the total history. Just what is the definition of freedom? What did it mean to the immigrants who so desperately struggled to get here?
Before I fell asleep, they always boiled down to these—the Constitution of theUnited States, The Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. The fountain heads that inspired the wisdom of our forefathers who wrote these amazing documents sprung from their own deep rooted experiences of the mistakes of governments from the countries from which they or their families came. They all knew what too much government interference, suppression and oppression meant. From the agony of their experience, they wrote the Constitution of theUnited States. With the completion of the Constitution, they gave us a Republic under one God in a nation for which we can stand. The knowledge of those concepts spread all over the world and drew the oppressed people of other governments toAmerica. From that day to January 20, 2009, we lived under a Republic.
You guys [Fox News Joiurnalists] know all this. You guys also know that this is no longer theAmericanRepublicunder the United States Constitution. If you fail to inform the public who relies upon the news media for complete and honest information you are betrayingAmerica.
Fox news is just about the only station I watch to keep up with television news. I tend to depend more on the internet than television for real honest factual news. It isn’t that Fox, lies—it does not as near as I have observed to date. It is just that Fox doesn’t tell ALL the news. The greatest obvious suppression of the news that Fox and all MSM is practicing is the story of the failure of Obama to prove he is legally eligible to be president under the rule of our Constitution. Is or is not Obama a legal citizen of theUnited Statesand qualified under the “natural born citizen” clause in the Constitution to be our legal president? Blood and soil are what it demands.
There are millions of frustrated, angry Americans who are asking this question. There is a very long laundry list that suggests Obama fails to meet the Constitutional legal requirements to be president. There are several legal actions taken against Obama regarding this single issue right now. IE: Quo Warrento filed by at least two attorneys... Run away grand juries that have examined the evidence and filed presentments and/or indictments with the district attorney’s of several states. There are active and retired service men who have filed criminal complaints against Obama for usurpation, treason, and more. The state ofOklahomafiled a huge document against Obama with the declaration of sovereignty from the federal government. WND has begun posting bill boards across the nation saying “Where’s the birth certificate?”
When asked, MSM and Fox News fail to answer why it refuses to even mention the words “birth certificate” in the same sentence with Obama, let alone cover a story about it. Instead of answering the many letters and telephone calls requesting the news cover the story, the people who bring this forward are treated like Robert Gibbs treated the reporter who asked him why Obama has never produced a birth certificate. They are hung up upon, ridiculed, accused of being “conspiracy people” or “birthers” (as if the government hasn’t given all of us reason to be that way if we are), lied to by being told Obama already proved he is a citizen with the COLB he published on his web site [COLB - Certificate of Live Birth], this is old news, denigrated and generally demeaned and SHUT UP. None of those responses directly confront the GREAT SILENCE OF THE PRESS OVER OBAMA’S CITIZENSHIP.
I watch you guys day after day report the latest deed done by Obama’s government that loots, ramsacks, removes, diminishes, and shreds one more American freedom, the Constitution, and the Republic. I listen to Glen Beck promote his 9/12 Project and beg Americans to help restoreAmericato the Republic she once was. I hear Sean Hannity describe the evils of Acorn and voter fraud. I watch Bill O’Reilly’s daily performance pretending to challenge every and any thing negative Obama and his thugs have done. Yet, the great silence about the single most important story ofAmericain modern history is slighted and ridiculed—by O’Reilly...
Mr. O’Reilly, this is not “old news”. To this date (now, not last year) Obama has failed to produce his real birth certificate and other documents to prove he is eligible to be our legal president. Until Obama does so, this story remains alive and now, and will never go away until Obama produces the documents he has spent nearly a $1,000,000 in legal fees keeping hidden. For whatever reasons you or Fox News continue to suppress this story, we may never know, but please, Mr. O’Reilly don’t emulate Robert Gibbs and use Saul Alinsky tactics and denigrate the reality, urgency, currency, and importance of the fact Obama has failed to produce the documents to prove his citizenship and thus his legitimacy as president. You know you are guilty of a “cover up” every time you suppress this story and demean its importance. (Even if you, personally do not believe in its merits, millions of other very sane, rational people do.) How can I or millions like me believe you really care about the stories you report if you fail to tell the greatest story of all?
Millions of people watch Fox news asking the same question I am asking now. Why don’t you do a story of Obama’s citizenship? Though you brag about your high ratings as a news program, even though you may not misrepresent, YOUR CREDIBILITY IS IN QUESTION BY THE MILLIONS WHO WANT OBAMA TO PRODUCE ALL THE DOCUMENTS HE IS HIDING. These millions are watching Fox news and discussing on the internet Fox News’s failure to tell the story. You can’t imagine how high your ratings would go if you would just do this one story and give it all the attention it deserves.Americawants to know.
Your silence shouts volumes about you and your credibility. Your silence is the very root of suspicion. Who, what or why is shutting you up? All of Europe,Russia,Canadaand theMiddle Eastknow about this controversy and have reported stories about it. They are laughing atAmericaright now because of the MSM and Fox News cover up on this most vital issue. People want to know who owns Fox news and are they calling the shots?
We patriots who have been following this vital issue since last August 2008 understand the many questions raised about the validity of this issue. We realize the legal, political, and all other ramifications this very sensitive issue can cause. WE also are keenly aware of Obama’s governing style is by intimidation of any and all kinds.Americais fighting for her life and may lose. We understand the legal responsibilities all news stations have in reporting false or incorrect information. These are not sufficient reasons to suppress this story since you can cover your legal rears with all sorts of disclaimers.
- “We don’t know how true this story is, but here is what millions of Americans are asking today about Obama’s citizenship. . . .” or
- “This story does not reflect the view of Fox news but this is what is happening . . .
- There are several law suits past and present challenging Obama’s presidential eligibility to be president based upon his citizenship
- A Quo Warrento was served to Eric Holder demanding Obama prove his right to govern.
- Run away grand juries have been formed and handed the district attorney’s “presentments” stating Obama is guilty of treason for failing to produce all the documents to prove he is eligible to be President. . . . And so on and on.
Our wonderfulAmericahas been hijacked. There is a large collection of evidence that indicates the man in the White House is a usurper. Everything he does as a usurper from the first act he made when he entered the WH can be made null and void, once he is tried and found guilty. Arresting and trying Obama for all his crimes is the salvation ofAmerica! The American news media and most of the public claim, he is too powerful to ever be arrested and tried for his crimes againstAmerica.Germanyonce thought that way about Hitler. If this isn’t the greatest story in modern history inAmerica, then nothing is. You guys know all this, and I suspect you knowfar more... The fact of the matter is all Americans are crime victims of Barry Sotoero [adopted in Indonesia by step-fatherSotoero]as long as he fails to prove his eligibility... Americahas only his and his goon’s words that he is legal. You must break the silence. The future of theAmericanRepublicis at stake.
Mr. Beck if you care about saving America as much as you so dramatically claim you do, you should realize the sooner Obama stands up or steps down, the sooner America can began to recover and restore itself.Sincerely,Therese Daniels

Another Form of Government
At the March 17, 2009 Menifee City Council Meeting, Councilman John Denver and Mayor Pro-Tem Darcy Kuenzi asked the city manager to place an ordinance on the agenda for the next city council meeting to prohibit any public spontaneous applause at city council meetings. They think it is good if the applause supports whatever Kuenzi and Denver favor, however, this is their solution to stop those who disagree with them. This goes against the American way of life and needs to be stopped. In addition, this kind of action was used in Nazi Germany and Communist Europe to control the people. Are the people in Menifee going to let these two run the show or are they going to take action and explain how the government of the people, by the people, and for the people works to these two who seem to favor another form of government? Procintu Protest Rally
On March 17, members of Citizens Against Private Armies conducted a Protest/Rally in Riverside at the Board of Supervisors Administration Building. The protest was covered by Uprising Radio (http://uprisingradio.org). In response to the project, The Riverside County Democratic Central Commitee passed a Resolution and urges officials to Revoke the Permit to Procinctu Group Inc. From there, it should go to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to get on the Agenda so the people will have an opportunity for Public Comments on this project. Ann Weston - Menifee

Local Republican Clubs ferociously pro- Granite and the Temecula quarry
Be sure to read Sunday’s [Feb. 7] two quarry articles in the Californian, pg. D5. Fred Bartz’s stunning revelation about the relationship between Granite’s Karie Reuther and Senator Dennis Hollingsworth is a bombshell. The other is by a Granite-planted stooge [Bob Kowell of the M/T CRA] who says the five wealthy absentee landowners at the quarry site, take precedence over the best interests of 250,000 local residents of Temecula, Fallbrook, and Murrieta. Friday night’s Murrieta/Temecula (M/T) branch of the California Republican Assembly (CRA) dinner at Pat and Oscar’s Restaurant with guest speaker State Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth was pleasant until the very end. Then it got very ugly.
Pleasant: • good food • good company (packed room) • young men, one only 17 years old who gave an excellent, impassioned speech about why he’s a Republican. I’m a Charter-Sustaining Member of the RNC since 1972 and the meeting had made me very optimistic for the future of the Republican party. Then it turned Very Ugly.
I politely tried to ask Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth a question at the end. I was dressed in an expensive sport jacket and tassel loafers, classic Republican stuff, not bright orange as many of my fellow SOS [Save our Southwest Hills] people, who I hang out with, wore. Yet he ignored me, and scurried quickly out the back door even as I asked him more loudly if I might ask one question. I then quietly asked the people running the meeting if I might briefly address my fellow Republicans. A large, burly guy then ordered me off the premises (the restaurant’s, not his) and another even burlier guy followed me out to the parking lot to announce he was calling a “black and white car” (cops) for disturbing the peace, which he in fact was doing by shouting.
I believe the Republican woman who took my dinner reservation on Jan. 29th, gave them a “heads up” about me and all the SOS people who also came to the dinner than evening. The woman had suspiciously asked me why I wanted to come. I replied because I was a faithful RNC member since ‘72, even voting for Richard Nixon in ‘68, and also wanted to ask Sen. Hollingsworth about his support for Granite. She then went ballistic on learning I was in favor of the Temecula annexation of the proposed Liberty Quarry site, and loudly called me an elitist nutcase...
There’s a “back story” here, as they say in Washington: What is it with this local embarrassing, rogue Republican bozo Murrieta/Temecula group that they have so totally swallowed the Granite Koolaid? They are ferocious bordering on violent, to any dissent from Granite’s agenda. Someone needs to do some forensic investigating. What’s the money trail, for openers? We know Granite is VERY rich ($3bil. sales). Not good. When the 2nd burly thug that followed me outside to the parking lot and stood 2 inches from my face screaming that he’s a cop and might now arrest me, I mockingly put my hands up over my head, but at 68 years old I’m not easily intimidated, so I shouted even louder that I am more Conservative than he is, and that he should be ashamed of himself for advocating selling our beautiful Temecula down the river for Granite’s profit. Stay tuned. The plot seems to be thickening a bit, no? Nick Biddle- Temecula
Publisher’s Note: It seems the Californian Letters are difficult to access online so here is a review with excerpts from the references cited by Nick Biddle. Fred Bartz’s letter to the Californian cites Karie Reuther, Granite Construction’s director of community affairs for Liberty Quarry, as stating that an environmental report detailing the effects a quarry would have is expected to be released in April. Further, Bartz noted that Ms. Reuther is quoted as saying, “If I was a city official, I would make more of a fact-based decision, and you can’t until you have all the facts in front of you.” Bartz asks “So, does this same logic apply to other government officials, for instance, a state senator? Dennis Hollingsworth, 36th District senator, issued a letter of support for Liberty Quarry on Aug. 8, 2005. Yes, 2005. How could Sen. Hollingsworth possibly make a ‘fact-based decision’ to support Liberty Quarry more than 3 1/2 years before ‘all the facts’ could have been in front of him?” Bartz’s “bombshell”, as it is being called and circulated in emails asks, “Does this support for Liberty Quarry by Sen. Hollingsworth have anything to do with the fact that Karie Reuther of Granite Construction used to work with Sen. Hollingsworth prior to her joining Granite Construction?”
Then there was the letter by Bob Kowell of the M/T CRA who wrote “Murrieta Council ignores rights”. Kowell is apparently upset that the Murrieta City Council voted unanimously to support an annexation effort proposed by the city of Temecula. Bob Kowell stated that “if the annexation proceeds as proposed, it would constitute the land grab of over 700 privately held acres. The majority of the landowners [six of them according to Gary Johnson of Granite Construction] in the subject area oppose the annexation.” Kowell cited that the Murrieta council claimed that this was a “local control” issue but in Kowell’s opinion, “private property and individual rights trump that”.
Kowell, Hollingsworth, and all of Granite’s Friend’s of Liberty Quarry need to read a primer on Property Rights according to California Law. Clarification of property rights issues based on Supreme Court decisions is found in at the February 2009 Editorial on this website.
City of Menifee District/At-Large Issue
A group of citizens against the formation of the city of Menifee came from all corners of the city to meet with Mayor Edgerton after the election that approved cityhood and districting. The city was to be divided into 5 districts and we met to offer our help with the creation of the new city. Mayor Edgerton did reveal the city council wanted to revisit the District vs At Large issue because they felt the voters did not understand the issue. At the conclusion of this meeting, we thanked Mayor Edgerton and advised him we would do all we can to see the will of the voters implemented.
One of the major arguments in favor of cityhood was more local control of our area but our elected city council has now made it clear this argument is a fallacy. The voters in the city of Menifee knew the districts would provide more local control but the city council wants to void Measure G, the district/at large election, because they do not support the voters and do not understand that there were 1231 voters who chose not to vote on Measure G at all which I suspect was because he/she did not support cityhood.
One Menifee councilmember is employed by a member of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and again this raises the question of local control. The Menifee City Council is in the process of putting together a Blue Ribbon Committee to look into the district/at large issue. This is the same tactic used by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to look into the voting machine issues raised by Save-R-Vote. Do you think we really have local control in Menifee?
It looks like the spin toward those who oppose doing away with the vote on Measure G have taken a turn for the worse as the rumor mill is working overtime to blame the “No on City Hood” and the seniors living in the Sun City core for this issue going out of control.
Folks, the Menifee City Council simply does not want to implement Measure G for personal reasons and they need to be held accountable for their inaction on implementing the will of the voters. In closing, Mayor Edgerton has recently broke ranks with the city council and supports the implementation of Measure G. Some of us have been reminding the city council to do the job they were elected to do and fortunately we have tools of Democracy available for the purpose of controlling those we elect when they fail to do their job. One of the tools is the recall of these elected officials and since the Menifee City Council has chosen to make a mockery of our democratic process, they need to be removed.Chuck Reutter, Menifee
State Mental Health Budget Cuts
I am hopeful for reconsideration of the $57 million budget cut in Mental Health services. This cut will negatively impact mentally ill patients and their families. Two clinics in Riverside County have already been closed. This translates into the loss of early intervention when mental illness first occurs. This cut is devastating to mentally ill patients who rely on local clinics, support and peer groups for treatment with less expense to the state and individual than the only other alternative - hospitalization. As a faithful tax payer, it appears that just when help is so desperately needed for my own son, it is being taken away.TV
1 equals 325
On C-SPAN-1 TV on Saturday February 21, billionaire T. Boone Pickens, oilman-windfarm-naturalgas expert-entrepreneur, testified in Washington, D.C. at the National Governors Association, to all the nation’s governors, the following jaw dropping new fact: One diesel engined 18 wheeler truck emits the equivalent noxious pollution of 325 automobiles. Hmmm, let’s see now: 1,400 daily Granite Construction trucks will suffocate the Temecula region with an additional daily blanket of deadly pollution equivalent to 455,000 (1,400 times 325) additional daily cars on the nearby I-15. Buy gas masks and weatherstrip your house. Stay indoors.Nick Biddle, Temecula

Lost baby shoes
On Saturday, Feb. 20th, my teen stepson left a birthday gift bag at the covered picnic table area of the Patricia Birdsall Sports Park (across from Great Oak High). The large blue bag was stuffed w/color tissue paper & had very very sentimental gifts from his mother, including his first shoes, a bible & clothing. I am trying to get word out to community members who may have been at the park, perhaps found the bag & not know who to return them to. The baby sneakers & bible are the items we would especially like to recover. Anyone who may have found the items can contact me at

Stop Laying Down Sun City by Larry Scarano - Sun City
My wife and I, who are being referred to as “Young Seniors”, bought our house in Sun City a little over a year ago. I am 60. She is 55. It was a blessing. We love it. Since living here though I have noticed some unexpected challenges that most people here accept as normal.
For instance. The “mandatory” trash pick up. It is not cheap. Most couples and single people do not fill up those twocontainers on wheels in a week, yet we are billed for it and it is forced on us like something out of The Sopranos.
Secondly, for the last few months about 300 residents who live along the golf course have been at war with the Foreign owners who wanted to put in condos and stores behind our back yards.
Then, last week I dropped a pair of Levis off at a tailor in the Core to have them hemmed. When I picked them up, the tab was $12.50. That’s twice the going rate in Redondo Beach or Corona. Ablatant rip-off of Senior Citizens who may not be aware of it.
Lastly, some of the restaurants in the Core seem to be serving the meals that the airlines eliminated. My point is that the time has come for Sun City to stop laying down. The Baby Boomers are coming and have always been the Generation of Change.
